How Your Eating Habits Can Contribute to Irritable Bowel Symptoms
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms can be brought on by a number of factors, including stress and other medical conditions, but many people with the condition notice changes in how they feel when they eat certain foods.
The international Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders recommends trading a large breakfast, lunch and dinner for smaller, more frequent meals during the day. Don’t skip breakfast, and eat every meal slowly. Take note of your “trigger foods” – the items that vie you IBS-related trouble when consumed. These foods differ for everyone, but common triggers include:
• Alcohol
• Beans
• Cabbage
• Chocolate
• Coffee
• Diary
• Fried Foods
• Nuts
