Patient Experience

Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery is committed to superior quality and patient safety. As a consumer, we believe you have a right to know how we are performing. Our transparent public reporting of third-party quality and safety data help us document our care more carefully and drive performance improvement. 

We use sources to collect information on our patients’ perspectives of care while they are in our hospital. One source is the Hospital Consumer Assessments of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We also use Press Ganey surveys.  In both, patients are asked about their recent visit and how they view their experience. Their opinions help us improve the care we provide to the community.

When we measure quality of care and service, we turn to the people who know best: our patients. For close to ten years, we have been collecting survey data rating the following:

• Responsiveness
• Communication
• Coordination
• Confidence in Caregivers
• Courtesy
• Cleanliness
• Overall Satisfaction

Measuring Performance

At Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery, our mission is to provide safe, quality health care. By regularly monitoring performance, we get to see where we are doing well and where we need improvement. By utilizing performance reports based on patient input, we are able to make informed and timely decisions that translate to better patient safety and outcomes.

We evaluate and survey patients and staff to create hospital “scorecards.” We rely on reporting from national agencies such as The Joint Commission to tell us how we are doing. We use a variety of methods to collect data and look at studies done by independent agencies to rate patient safety, clinical quality, patient experience and more.

Improving Safety and Quality

Score cards and performance information is sent to leadership, physicians, nurses and other key staff members so that we can monitor progress and communicate where and how improvements are made. Additionally, the data helps to modify policies related to patient care and safety.
